Blog post#4 Main Character...

Margaret is in my opinion the main character of The Watcher. Margaret is Shy, lonely, and keeps to her self a lot. But if I were to focus on the positive traits that Margaret has; Margaret is very insightful, creative, and has an amazing imagination. Margaret's imagination and creativity makes up for her shyness and loneliness. Margaret is also good at reading people's emotions (in my opinion that is)

Blog post#3 This Reminds me of...

"The girl had no memory, no real memory. The girl had no real memory of how she came to this place. It was a dream.  Except for the dream which was so real it felt like a memory." 
This reminds me of the part of my book from Margaret's point of view. Margaret is always sitting on the stairs watching everyone at the beach, and writing entries. I picked this picture with no one in it because although the beach is regularly packed with people. Margaret feels very lonely  this is a reflection of how Margaret feels alone despite the fact that she's on a crowded beach, filled with people. She's a prisoner of her own body.

The Watcher Written by James Howe 

The book I am currently reading called The Watcher, is based on three different journal entries. Or rather three different perspectives. The three different people are, Chris Powell, a life guard at the beach,  Evan, a twelve year old boy with a family that's close to being separated, and Margaret, the girl that every other teen at the beach refers to as the watcher.

Chris Powell the life guard, prefers to spend his summer at the beach.  It's easier on him then staying at home. Chris feels as though he is in the way of his parents and their grieving because he feels like he can't replace his recently deceased brother. 

Evan, a twelve year old boy that seems to have the perfect family, and the perfect life that anyone would wish for, doesn't have that great of a family. Turns out the family is almost torn apart with a divorce. If his parent's get a divorce Evan and Callie will be split up. Evan would go with his father, Callie with her mother. 



Margaret, the girl that every other teen at the beach refers to as the watcher is this quiet, shy girl that no one really knows. She sits on the stairs all day watching everyone at the beach and writes down journal entries about Evan and Chris, and anyone else that catches her attention, but mainly those two. I don't know much about Margaret because I haven't read much from her point of view, but that is what I have so far. 

Blog post#1; Response To The Quote.

“Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few are to be chewed and digested.”  - Francis Bacon

I think that this quote is has a lot of truth to it.  When I read this quote I immediately thought of myself, and how I sometimes can hardly hold on to a book if it doesn't interest me. Some books are alright, and I will be able to finish them but most likely within in a long period of time. The books I really like I can barely put down, and are usually the books I can't stop reading.  Crank by Ellen Hopkins is a book that I couldn't stop reading. I really got into it. It was a book that I was to be "chewed and digested" because it was so appealing to me, and I could relate to it a lot. I could relate with the main character the most, because she would put on a mask to please certain people, but then she would be herself around people who she didn't need to please.  I think that's why I really couldn't stop reading it because it was relateable.
